Calling all local musicians! We are looking for local musicians to provide some entertainment at our Saturday morning farmer’s market. Starting April 7, we plan to have entertainment for our customers’ enjoyment. The time slot is 9:30am to 11:30am. We are looking for all types of entertainers. If you are interested in performing at the market, please contact Phil at pgshepard1@yahoo.com.

Jan 3, 2012 Happy New Year – and a lot of news!

New Year Moves

Happy New Year to all the faithful followers of the Cary Downtown Farmers’ Market – and you have followed us about for the last couple of years. Now we are asking you to follow us once more, this time maybe for good.

Next season – and that is coming up sooooon – on the first Saturday in April, the 7th, we will be MOVING AGAIN. Our new destination is back in the Cary Downtown, with many thanks to the Westbrook folks who have put us up in Chatham Square. We will be on the corner of Academy Street and Kildaire Farm Road/Dry Street, right across from the new Arts Center/ old Cary Academy, on the corner where everybody can see us.

There will be plenty of on-street parking, as well as various parking lots very close by, including the library.

We will be hoping to welcome back all our previous vendors, and maybe some of the Western Wake folks too, as well as any vendor newbies who are interested in selling at the market. If you’d like to be a vendor, please click on the link to download the combined application and market rules in PDF format. You can then print them – it’s only three pages.

New Year Changes & Updates

The new Cary Downtown Manager, Ed Gawf, and Doc Thorne of Heart of Cary Association will be helping us to get the word out about the new location. From Doc Thorne’s mailbox regarding this:

HoCA in Partnership with the Town will be placing a large 4X8 sign along the sidewalk in the new location of S. Academy (as soon as specs are provided), advising citizens the Farmer’s Market will be opening April 7th.

HoCA will promote a contest within the arts community (via Chambers Arts!) for DCFM from which four-different designs will be chosen and converted to 11X17 posters and door-hangers. Look for our new posters to come!

Ed says the Town will have and make its mobile Bandstage available at least for the April 7th opening as well as any other time entertainment is available. This will be a big step up (literally) for those folks we’ve had play music for us in the past, and who we hope will return to enliven the market. There will also be more of the public service events we’ve tried to sponsor, like the rabies shots event and pet adoption services.

See you April 7th!
