All About Us
Merry Oaks Coffee Roasters is owned by Eli + Dawn Ruhl. We became interested in roasting coffee in 2006, when Dawn came across a website that detailed how to roast coffee at home. It was an ‘a-ha’ moment, one of many, in which we thought ‘we can make that at home?!’ Eli took the information she brought home, fashioned a coffee roaster, and the rest, as they say, is history. We couldn’t believe how much better the beans tasted, and we couldn’t keep the information to ourselves, so we started sharing our coffee with a few friends. They told their friends, and eventually people started asking if they could pay us for coffee beans. The nearly-4 years since then have allowed Eli to hone both his skills and his passion as a small batch coffee roaster.
There are a few things that are a little different about our business:
- We only sell our coffee locally. We may consider shipping in the future, but we have concerns about compromising the freshness of our beans.
- We strive to conduct our business in ways that are as sustainable as possible. We package almost all of our coffee in reusable glass jars, which we prefer to be returned to us (alternative packaging is available).
As we will be at the Cary Downtown Farmers’ Market regularly, our customers can now pick up their custom orders there.
