Bethesda Roasting Company - We began roasting coffee in the spring of 2011 and the Downtown Cary Farmer’s market is our first commercial exposure. We produce single origin and blended coffee products in a “social entrepreneurship” methodology. Our goal is to run a profitable business while benefiting the nations where our product is produced. We donate at minimum 15% of our profits to two organizations: The African Children’s Choir (ACC) and Stop Child Trafficking Now (SCTNow). ACC is comprised of several choirs that travel internationally to raise awareness and finances for orphanages in Kenya and Uganda. All of the children in the choirs have lost at least one or both parents to HIV/AIDS. One of the choirs has their “home base” here in the US in Chatham County where they receive tutoring and mentoring when they are not performing. SCTNow is a specialized organization comprised of former and active CIA, FBI, DELTA Force, Navy Seal, and law enforcement officials that gather information on pedophiles and individuals involved in the sexual trafficking of children. They then use this information to assist active law enforcement domestically and interenationally in bringing individuals to justice. The organization’s goal is to eliminate the demand side of the child sex slave trade. More information on Bethesda Roasting Company and our social entrepreneurship model can be found on our website at www.bethesdacoffee.com

By limiting chemicals we allow natural insect predators and honey bees to thrive. We fertilize using green manure crops and natural fertilizers such as fish emulsions.
